DESCRIPTION:29 Jun 2013 - 10:00"On Saturday June 29, 2013, I am going to be hosting a Used Curriculum sale at the Municipal Auditorium, in 301 S Hickory St, Ottawa, KS 66067. This will be hosted by our family as a fundraiser for our daughter Katie Dysart. www.K9forKatie.org or www.facebook.com/k9forkatieMy daughter Katie has a rare and hard to treat epilepsy syndrome called Doose Syndrome and she recently has been approved for a seizure service dog. This fundraiser is specifically to raise money to help Katie receive the dog and the training that she and our family needs to have a successful service dog. This dog will be a certified professional assistant dog specifically trained to help Katie as she grows from a child into adulthood.We are a home school family, and I have been involved with home education since 1984, when I returned home from the military and helped my mother home school the two youngest of my siblings. In 1993, I began to formally home school my oldest son and still continue to home school today. This past year my youngest child, Katie entered the local grade school as a 3rd grader. Our local school was amazing and gave us everything she needed from speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, to a one-on-one aid all day long with special help in reading and math. I still home school her older sister Anna who is going into the 8th grade next year. Because I need to thin out 20 years of educational supplies and books I thought that a used curriculum sale would be a good fundraiser idea.Each family that wants to sell their extra items will rent a standard rectangular table with 2 chairs for a minimum suggested donation of $12.50. All set up, selling and clean up around your table will be the responsibility of the individual family. We will provide the tables. 2 families can go together if they choose. Door fees for shoppers will be a love offering of what ever the person or family feels led to offer. We choose June 29th so that families could finish out this school year but still have time before they start next school year. All families are asked to sell only curriculum, reading books or other school related supplies; for example science supplies, and learning games.We would love for your family or group to join us in Ottawa Kansas, to bless others with your unused curriculum, and purchase new to you/used supplies for your home school while helping a little girl get her service dog. The sale will be open to the public from 10:00 to 2:00.Sellers will be admitted from 9:00-10:00 to set up their tableAfter the sale; sellers will have from 2:00 to 3:00 to pack and clear their area.Please put this event on your groups calendars and share with all of your member family’s and friends that might be interested.
