SAT Testing Dates (April 9-13, 2012) and Preparation Materials

The dates for the Stanford Achievement Test will be April 10-11 (grade K), April 9-11 (grades 1-6), and April 12-13 (grades 7-11).  Testing will take place in the Cunningham Building at the College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe.  This year’s SAT test will contain all the usual subjects except the Bible portion, because our source no longer offers it.  If you signed up for testing in the fall, you will receive a letter at the end of March with information about testing times and other details.  If your check for testing has not cleared your bank, please email Teri Bucher (stanforddottestingatgmaildotcom  (stanforddottestingatgmaildotcom)  ). If your child is participating in Exchange City and is in grades 4-6, please email Teri Bucher concerning the conflict your child has with testing and Exchange City prep day on April 10.

If you would like to order materials for preparing your child for the SAT test, there are several options.  BJU Press has several materials available.  Better Test Scores (grades 3-8) are subject-specific books that review the underlying materials students find on most achievement tests.  They are available for reading, language, and math at a cost of $11 each or $30 for the set of three.  Test for Success (grades K-9) teaches and provides practice in reasoning skills and test-taking strategies, as well as ways to reduce test anxiety.  The student workbook and teacher guide cost $31.  To order or for more information call 1-800-845-5731 or see BJUP.com.

Rainbow Resource (rainbowresource.com) offers the following resources.  Scoring High on the SAT Test (grades 1-8) runs about $38 for teacher and students books.  It includes practice in vocabulary, reading, comprehension, math, spelling, language, and listening.  Core Skills-Test Preparation (grades 1-8) focuses highly on a student’s understanding of the test and runs around $7.50 per grade level.  Spectrum Test Preparation and Practice (grades 1-8) covers reading, math, and language and runs about $7.50.  Preparing Students for Standardized Testing (grades 3-8) runs about $9.50.

MARI.Inc.com carries Test Best on the Stanford Achievement Test (grades 3-8) and costs about $23.  Also, it carries Scoring High on the SAT Test (grades 1-8) for about $28.  The Christian bookstores sometimes carry some of these materials, too.
