As the temperatures climb, it can be tempting to hide in the comfort of our air conditioning. But don’t despair! There are numerous ways to stay cool this summer without having to hide inside or break the bank.
Play in the sprinkler
Worried about water costs? Let the kids out to play in the sprinkler when you are already using it to water the lawn! This is a super quick and easy way for them to have fun and cool off.
Wash the car
Save money by skipping the car wash, and have a party washing your own vehicles! Growing up, washing the car was one of our favorite ways to have fun during the summer.
Have a water gun fight
Water guns can get fancy and expensive, but they don’t have to be. Grab a couple of cheap ones at Walmart and surprise the kids with a spontaneous water gun war!
Get a pool membership
If you frequently make trips to the pool, it’s probably worth buying a membership or season pass. If you do the math, paying once at the beginning of the summer will save you a good deal of money and make it that much easier to jump in and cool off!
Find a splash park
The Roe Park Splash Pad is open in the Johnson County area, while Loose Park offers similar fun for those further east. Especially if your child isn’t quite ready for a pool, a splash pad is a great way for them to stay cool and have fun–for free!
Go to the lake
