City Union Mission is an evangelical Christian ministry committed to sharing the gospel and meeting the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of men, women, and children who are poor and homeless. It is the largest rescue mission, not just in Kansas City, but in a 6 state region.
How homeschoolers can get involved:
– Come take a tour of the Mission — watch their video and see one or all of our facilities (Men’s Center, Family Center, Vanderbury Youth Program, New Life Center).
– Have a speaker come talk to your group of students about the Mission, homelessness, drug and alcohol awareness, or a variety of other topics.
– Participate in one of their drives — they have drives going on throughout the year to collect much needed items like over-the-counter medicine, disposable paper products, items for our summer camp, or hygiene items.
– Volunteer as a family or small group — housekeeping projects, baking cookies for special events, making Welcome Bags filled with hygiene items for overnight guests, or organizing books in our youth library, to name a few opportunities.
