The power of prayer in protecting homeschool freedoms

prayer

Did you know that there is an activity that you can engage in at any time that will have an impact in heaven?

I believe this reveals the significance of your life. Did you ever think that you can make an impact in heaven? Well, you can!

Look at this passage in Revelation 8:3-4.

“Another angel, with a gold incense burner, came and stood at the altar. He was given a large amount of incense to offer with the prayers of all the saints on the gold altar in front of the throne. The smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up in the presence of God from the angel’s hand.”

Your prayers are ascending as a fragrant incense offering before God. And then things begin to take place as these prayers are offered up.

The uncertainties of the end of ages begins to come into focus. Now we can always hope that the heavenly activities that need to take place before the Lord establishes His reign on earth are done by someone else because we are too busy or that my part isn’t really that important. But it was the prayers of ALL the saints which launched the sequence of events we long to see.

As homeschoolers, we face future uncertainties. There is a political move afoot that would try and restrict the freedoms homeschoolers from 25 years ago fought to win.

In the “good old days,” the few families forging the way fought for freedom. Today we enjoy the fruit of their labors.

Today, basically one generation later, a threat exists, and we need to mobilize many. Your time and efforts may be needed very shortly.

Prayer (and success) requires community

Unlike the child’s story about the boy crying wolf, this request for joining in the fight is real. And just like the importance of many joining in praying resulting in the seven trumpets to usher in the day of the Lord, it didn’t happen until all the required prayer was offered up.

So how can you make a difference now?

Politic, participate, and pray. 2018 is an election year. Find some candidates you can support and volunteer. Hand out literature in a neighborhood, put up a yard sign, or make some calls.

Be sure to let the politicians know you homeschool. Participate in the homeschool community and activities. Be part of a small support group.

Attend the homeschool graduation to celebrate the success of others and to gain encouragement in your own efforts.

The annual MPE Homeschool Conference and Curriculum Fair should be a part of your regular rhythm.

Your attendance is important for the following reasons: personal refreshment during the school year, vision casting, practical hands on homeschool tips, a chance to peruse various homeschool curricula and resources, and a chance to see, or be seen, by someone in your network of friends or acquaintances.

‘Be zealous and repent’

I hear some people don’t want to participate in these efforts because they are too busy, they have everything they need or are simply indifferent.

I would exhort you to resist that Laodicean attitude described in Revelation 3:15-19.

“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,’ and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.”

This group was seen as lukewarm and in need of nothing. The message was to be zealous. We need more of this in the homeschool community if we are to remain viable.

Pray for God’s favor in our states. Pray for the elections. Pray for your family. Pray for other homeschoolers. Pray for the leadership of MPE. Pray.

This single activity of prayer on your part makes a difference in heaven and it will also on earth.

“Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
