Our 2020 Homeschool Conference has been rescheduled to June 26-27. Here is an official statement from our conference committee chairman, Chad Womble.
I trust that this message finds you well and doing all that you can during this unprecedented time in our history. As we all try to observe the “social distancing” orders, we are faced with varying degrees of change in our households.
For some, not much has changed other than it is more difficult to purchase our regular household goods such as toilet paper and bread. For others, we are working from home and our favorite weekly educational activities are cancelled. But I am confident that our Heavenly Father has all of this under control and He will sustain us during this time.
As you know, our Conference was cancelled for April 3-4, 2020, due to the current social distancing guidelines. This last week, our board met to work on setting a rescheduled date for the conference to be held. The only viable dates that were available at our venue, before the start of the next school year, is June 26-27, 2020.
Our conference committee is working tirelessly to get our vendors and speakers rescheduled for the new dates. I am happy to announce that most of our speakers are available and have committed to being here.
Our vendors have been hit hard by this national crisis and are busy working on their own schedules so that they can recoup some of the lost revenue from a cancelled conference season throughout our country. We look forward to seeing most of them here in June.
For those who have not renewed their membership with MPE already or those that have not purchased their membership for this year, I want to announce that the time to purchase memberships to MPE and attend the conference for free has been extended to June 12, 2020, or online purchase. These memberships will run through April 1, 2020, thus allowing you free admission to the 2020 conference in June.
We know that this crisis has impacted our members as well, so we are working on bringing some of our featured speakers via Facebook Live over the coming months leading up to the new conference dates. We are also reaching out to vendors to offer our members exclusive discount codes that will be available through our website and linked through our Facebook and Instagram accounts.
MPE offers one of the most affordable Homeschool Conferences in the nation, and this is due in large part to our vendors. Without our vendors purchasing booths, we would not be able to host our homeschool conference.
For this reason, I would ask that each of us strive to support our vendors whenever possible. I know that we all have budgets to live within and I would ask that you patronize our vendors every time that it is feasible to do so. And very soon we will have links for you to do so and receive discounts from them in the process.
Stay tuned for more information regarding the upcoming conference and further promotions via Facebook and Instagram. And I look forward to seeing all of you at this year’s Midwest Parent Educators Homeschool Conference and Curriculum Fair.
