Homeschool Capitol Day
Kansas homeschool families are invited to join us at the Capitol for our annual Homeschool Capitol Day on Thursday, Feb. 1, beginning at 10 a.m.
Capitol Day RSVP
If you plan to attend Homeschool Capitol Day, please help us know you’re coming so we can prepare basic materials and assure we have space for all attendees. We’re trying to only ask minimal information; your family’s name, how many people from your family plan to attend, and your county.
Highlights of your Capitol Day field trip can include:
- Helping distribute sweet treats and homeschool fact sheets to legislators
- Meeting personally with your own state legislators (make appointment prior)
- Touring the Capitol and the Dome at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
- Observing the legislature in action
- Learning from legislators and others about how Kansas government works
- Enjoying the wit and wisdom of our special guest speaker, Andrew Pudewa, who will be at the First Presbyterian Church sanctuary (across Harrison Street from the Capitol) at 12:45 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Building a positive relationship with our state legislators will help keep homeschools thriving in Kansas. Meeting up for Homeschool Capitol Day provides the encouraging presence of other homeschool families as well as many firsthand educational experiences!

Is there a suggested age for the kids at this event?
You know your children best, but please note there will be a lot of walking and talking with legislators at the event. For this reason, we recommend leaving toddlers & preschoolers at home.
You can see more tips for the day in this handy video walk-through!
