How To Homeschool Workshop
Our free June 8 homeschool workshop will be 5-6 p.m. at Journey Bible Church, 13700 W 151st St, Olathe, KS 66062.
Stay afterward for our Used Curriculum Sale from 6-8 p.m.!
If you can’t make our June 8 date, we will feature a live “how to homeschool” webinar with the same information on June 20, which will be recorded for later viewing. Registration is required for the webinar.
Dinner option
While both the homeschool workshop and used curriculum sale events are free, we’ve negotiated a special deal on dinners with the church’s Kindness Kitchen – warm, fresh, boxed meals at incredible prices especially for homeschool families!
These meals are lovingly created from scratch by the amazing Greg & Mary Reynolds, who have a combined 35 years of private catering experience. (They’re also retired homeschool parents!)
Each meal will contain chicken cream cheese enchiladas (gluten-free option available IF ordered by June 4), rice, and beans, all warm and made on-site that evening.
The workshop will include discussions on the following:
How to Homeschool: Beginning the Journey
Beginning any endeavor well is a key to long-term success. We’ll help you set expectations, meet legal requirements, tailor curriculum, and choose philosophies for your unique family. You will leave with resources and confidence to begin or continue your homeschool journey.
Laws, Testing, and Grading
Understanding and fulfilling homeschool law in Kansas and Missouri can seem overwhelming. We will learn how to implement the laws into your daily schedule as a busy homeschool mom and help to keep you organized in the process.
Teaching Multiple Grades
Are you overwhelmed with the idea of teaching multiple kids, with different ages and learning styles? Have no fear! We will give you some tips and strategies on how to have a successful homeschooling day, as well as meet the unique needs of each of your children.
Speaker:
Jacklynn Walters has been married to her husband, Justin, for 17 years. They have four children and have homeschooled in both Missouri and Kansas. Their primary focus is to raise up their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Jacklynn is passionate about encouraging and connecting with homeschool moms and families.

Hi Whitney,
The workshop is open and available to everyone, so no need to sign up. However, if you want to take advantage of the discounted dinner option, then please sign up in advance so that we know how many dinners to prepare. We can’t guarantee that there will be enough meals for everyone if they come to order on site.
Hope this helps!
Shanxi
Yes, that’s correct! We don’t have any signup for the live event tonight – you can just show up. The webinar will have a recording and a signup link, which is why we need people to sign up for that option in advance.
