I have been a first-time homeschooler and now I have many years of homeschooling experience. I was reflecting on what things are still true of both a newbie and a veteran homeschool mom.
Here are a few things I have come up with:
- I still choose to homeschool because I believe it is the right thing to do for my child, not because I know that I can afford it or because I feel qualified to do it.
- I still struggle at times, despite many examples of God’s faithfulness, to trust that God will provide for our family in every circumstance, including homeschool struggles.
- I still need the encouragement and insight of my homeschooling community to become an effective and excellent teacher.
- I still need to be aware of changes to my state homeschool law and potential legislation that could impact my homeschool freedom.
MPE has been a resource for the homeschooling community since 1986. We desire to support homeschoolers in building a community that can encourage each other to persevere in educating our children and to protect homeschool freedom for ourselves and future generations.
Shaping The Future
In that spirit, MPE is hosting an event, “Homeschooling & KS Legislature: Shaping the Future” from 7-8:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at Hope Family Fellowship in Kansas City, KS. (You can also join our Facebook event here.)
Together we will:
- Explore how the KS legislative process works
- Learn how we can effectively participate in the legislative process
- Stay informed on legislation impacting homeschool freedom
- Interact with local legislators involved in education policy and leadership (Q&A)
Can you think of other things that are true of both newbie and veteran homeschoolers?
Can you share an example of God’s provision in your homeschool to encourage others?
Can you join me on Thursday, Aug. 15, to learn how to help preserve homeschool freedom?
