Ever wanted a “student/grad spotlight” for your homeschool child? For example, did they win a scholarship, receive a reward, start a business, or excel in a contest?
Well, here’s your chance to share!
For years we’ve featured homeschoolers and their accomplishments in our newsletter‘s student spotlight. Now we’re sharing more of these success stories online and on social media!
Here are some guidelines:
- Write at least 1 paragraph describing your accomplishment(s)
- Attach a high-resolution picture (ideally, at least 1 MB or more)
- Include contact details where we can reach you for more information (email address and phone number)
Additionally, if you just want the submission to be featured in our newsletter and not online or on social media, please indicate that on the following form.
Thanks, and we look forward to hearing from you!
Previous student/graduate spotlight examples
- 2021 Spotlight: “Leo T Murry Jr, home-educated since kindergarten, has been named a 2021 National Merit Scholar Finalist! He was selected from a nationwide pool of semifinalists representing less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors. He is the son of Leo and Sara Murry, and a #classof2021 MPE graduate. Congratulations, Leo!” (See the post on our Facebook page.)
- 2020 Spotlight: “Congratulations to John Cary on his placement in the National Merit Scholarship Program! He and his parents are MPE members at the Family tier. John is one of only two Kansas homeschool students awarded this honor in 2020. Officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced in September the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered next spring. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. Way to go, John!” (See the post on our Facebook page.)
- 2017 Spotlight: “Congratulations to Kayley Brethour and Kayla Cossins, May 2017 homeschool graduates who have received top college scholarships! Kayley, daughter of Clay and Kristin Brethour, will be attending Kansas State University. She received the Vanier Family Business Administration Best of Kansas Scholarship. It is the largest and most selective scholarship award made by Kansas State University’s College of Business. The scholarship recognizes students who have been truly outstanding, both academically and as student leaders, during their high school career. Kayla, daughter of Rob and Denise Cossins, will be attending MidAmerica Nazarene University. She was awarded a full-tuition scholarship given to high-achieving high school seniors during the Scholarship Challenge Weekend. Both scholarships were based on excellence in academics, leadership, and service; required applications, essays, and interviews; and are renewable for 4 years. Well done, Kayley and Kayla!” (See the post on our Facebook page.)
