Business Field Trip: School Of Economics

School of Economics Market is a hands-on business field trip for students in grades 3-8 where they operate their own economy and experience the demands that businesses encounter. The students put the skills and knowledge they have learned in school into action in a facsimile of the real-world work environment. Click here to watch a video of our program.

Older students have the opportunity to campaign for City Mayor. They will submit a campaign paragraph and give a speech at the prep day.

School of Economics is a two-day field trip.

1. Preparation day: Students will work with their assigned teams to make decisions on their products and design a marketing strategy. Prep-day is typically 1-2 weeks prior to the field trip day.
2. School of Economics Business Day: Look for more details about our 2027 field trip in September or October.

Parent Involvement:

• 12 to 15 Volunteer adults are needed at the event (MPE membership and annual background checks are required.)
• Parental attendance is required for Preparation Day.
• Parents who are not volunteering may drop their students off at the School of Economics on the event day.

Registration will open for MPE Members only for one week in November before opening up to everyone. This event typically sells out quickly, join MPE for early registration.
